North Haven, CT - For months, thousands have been networking one special Pit bull named Cocoa. My own Facebook followers have seen her story shared time and again - "Still waiting".
The wait is over - Cocoa has been rescued.
While Cocoa's fans were networking her story, a rescue was working quietly behind the scenes to help make her dream of freedom - of life - a reality.

Twenty Paws to Share stepped up to be the rescue which facilitated Cocoa's adoption process - ironically, the person who brought Cocoa to this organization's attention was an individual from England (proving again the far reach and power of internet networking capabilities!!).
Twenty Paws did not announce the great news about Cocoa until an adopter was found and carefully screened for approval.

Once that was complete, the good news went out to Cocoa's fans on October 5.
On October 10, Cocoa was released from the North Haven Animal Control - a facility which Cocoa had called home for an incredible (and long) 7 months.

On Cocoa's first day of freedom in far too many months, she enjoyed a long walk on the beach, and a hamburger from a fast food restaurant.

Though Cocoa can't speak the words, it goes without saying that she was in dog heaven that day.
After her day of play, Cocoa went to the veterinarian for her spay, shots, exam, heartworm test and even a quick "pedi" for her neglected nails.

This weekend (Saturday) Cocoa made the 12 hour trek to upstate New York to join her forever family.
According to Twenty Paws, Cocoa's new home is wonderful - filled with warmth and love.
Cocoa is one of the fortunate ones - she had an entire community fighting for her life and the support of the animal control facility's employees who helped her find rescue.
Please stop by Twenty Paws and tell them thank you for helping Cocoa - thanks to the efforts of so many, Cocoa will see the leaves fall this Autumn and the snow fall this Winter.
Be well Cocoa!
